Nestled in the charming village of Asnelles in Normandy, not far from the famous D-Day landing beaches, Les Sablés d’Asnelles® is much more than just a biscuit maker. It’s a veritable institution where tradition, quality craftsmanship and gourmet delights come together. If you’re looking for a gourmet getaway in Normandy, here’s why our artisan biscuit factory deserves a special place on your itinerary.

Unique craftsmanship handed down from owner to owner

Founded in 1904, the Les Sablés d’Asnelles® biscuit factory has been perpetuating traditional know-how for over a century. Over the years, the original recipe for our Normandy shortbread has been passed down from owner to owner, and has remained unchanged, guaranteeing an authentic taste and melt-in-the-mouth texture that delight young and old alike.

We make each biscuit from rigorously selected, mainly local, quality ingredients: French wheat flour, sugar, the famous Isigny PDO butter, and free-range eggs. This choice of ingredients, combined with a traditional production method, gives our shortbread its incomparable flavour.

At Les Sablés d’Asnelles®, we take great care at every stage: from breaking the eggs by hand (1,500 eggs a week in summer), to boxing the biscuits (around 18,000 biscuits a day). This meticulous attention to detail guarantees quality products that are the pride of our team of 10 employees, all of whom are dedicated to providing moments of gustatory pleasure for each and every one of our customers.

A local and social commitment

To support the growing development of our traditional biscuit factory, since April 2023 we have been working with the Bayeux ESAT, ‘Les Compagnons’, for part of the packaging of our shortbread. This partnership illustrates our commitment to a corporate social responsibility (CSR) approach, combining quality craftsmanship and local solidarity.

Les Sablés d’Asnelles®: a close link with history.

Located just a few minutes from the D-Day landing beaches, between Arromanches-les-bains and Courseulles-sur-Mer, our biscuit factory is deeply linked to the history of the region. Visitors to this historic site can extend their experience by savouring our Normandy shortbread. Our biscuits have become an institution for locals and tourists alike, embodying the Norman way of life, while evoking a certain return to childhood and the heritage of this historic region.

« Our mission: to participate in life’s little pleasures, by working with a high-quality product that will take you back to childhood. »

An artisan biscuit factory, but not only

As well as our classic shortbread, we now offer a wide range of gourmet products, including home-made pastries made with our famous shortbread dough. Among our creations, our strawberry and raspberry tarts with our partner, Vergers du Grand Parc, are particularly popular.

Our warm and friendly tearoom is the ideal place to savour our creations. Whether you prefer to enjoy our outdoor terrace or sit indoors, we welcome you in a cosy setting. What’s more, we’ve taken great care to make our space accessible to all, including people with reduced mobility, so that everyone can enjoy our pastries and desserts.

A delicatessen honouring Normandy’s terroir

In addition to our traditional pastries and shortbread, we are delighted to present our delicatessen, a veritable showcase of Normandy products. You’ll find a wide selection of local specialities, carefully chosen to showcase the best of Normandy’s terroir.

Our selection includes:

Souvenirs to take home

After a visit to Les Sablés d’Asnelles®, you can take home a delicious souvenir. We offer mugs, tote bags, magnets and other gifts bearing the effigy of our biscuit factory, to prolong the pleasure at home or offer a little piece of Normandy to your loved ones.

Our shortbread, available all over France and the world

Thanks to our development, our Normandy shortbread is now available in over 130 sales outlets in France, particularly in Paris, but also in Europe (Spain, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, England) and even in Japan. Wherever you are, you can enjoy a piece of Normandy with our biscuits.

Our local and environmental commitment

We are strongly committed to the local economy. We give priority to 90% regional raw materials, such as butter from Isigny PDO, eggs from Notre basse cour in Bonnemaison, and flour from Caen.

We control our environmental footprint by promoting the use of green energy, reducing our packaging and using recycled cardboard.

The quality of our products is ensured by rigorous controls, and we guarantee that our biscuits are free from GMOs and preservatives.

We focus on people and caring, with a management that is present and involved on a daily basis. We promote the inclusiveness and well-being of our employees by offering training, improving working conditions with ergonomic equipment and combating discrimination.

We also play a key role in community life, supporting local associations and organising visits to our patisserie laboratory. Our aim with our shop and tearoom is to provide essential meeting places for local people, to strengthen social ties in the village and make a positive contribution to the local dynamic.
